 INYO in 2011

January, 2011: Auditions conducted in different cities of India.  The conductor with his assistant and director travelled to Bengaluru, Kolkata and Delhi.

April, 2011: A ten day workshop organized at the Calcutta School of Music; with 45 outstation musicians and 15 local musicians from Kolkata attended this intensive workshop. Followed by a concert at the Kala Mandir on the 24th April.

May, 2011: Our orchestra performed two concerts in Delhi on the 29th and the 31st of May 2011; the second concert was performed in the presence the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel and the speaker of the Indian Parliament, Meira Kumar opening the year of Germany in India. The repertoire was the 8th Symphony by Beethoven, the Overture “Meeresstille und glückliche Fahrt“by Mendelssohn and the 5th Symphony by Schubert.

September, 2011: Assistant to conductor from Austria and director travelled to Kolkata, Kalimpong, Bangalore, Mumbai, Goa and Delhi for a workshop with the orchestra members. This was also an opportunity for new players to audition for the orchestra.

We have also started an Asia-India National Youth Orchestra with musicians from our neighboring countries.

October, 2011: Sectional rehearsals on at various cities of our country. Especial emphasis on rehearsals for the upcoming opera “La Cavalleria Rusticana” by Pietro Mascagni.

November, 2011: Our orchestra performed for Pietro Mascagni´s opera “La Cavalleria Rusticana” to celebrate “150 Years of Italian Unification”.This mega event was organized by the Embassy of Italy and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in collaboration with the Delhi International Arts Festival.

 INYO in 2012

February: The conductor and director will travel to Bengaluru on the 3rd & 4th , Goa on the 14th & 15th and Mumbai on the 16th & 17th for auditions for the April workshop. Followed by a general meeting with all the musicians, where 4 musicians will be selected to get a full scholarship for six weeks for an intensive training workshop in Canada.

April: We will be conducting our next workshop for the winds and the string section from the 3rd to the 11th of April, 2012 in Bengaluru. There will be ten teachers from Germany and Austria as instructors for this intensive training cum workshop which will end in a concert on the 10th of April at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall. Our partners are the Indian Council of Cultural Relations and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, New Delhi in collaboration with the Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities.The concert will also be a part of the celebrations of “25 years of Bangalore School of Music”.

June – August: India National Youth Orchestra has tied up with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada to send INYO musicians to NYOC on scholarship. This year four of our INYO musicians Ashley Rego, Arun Rozario, Divya Raghunathan and Bianca Mendonca will join as guests of the NYOC, participating in their chamber music program, orchestral rehearsals, and finally their tour in performing for concerts in Canada and the United States of America.

October:  We are privileged to announce that the the ‘India National Youth Orchestra’ is now an impaneled organization by the ‘Indian Council for Cultural Relations’ which is under the aegis of the “Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India”.

 INYO in 2013

February – March: India National Youth Orchestra and our partners the Vienna University Choir performed for a series of concerts at Goa, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Nagercoil and Thiruvananthapuram.  We had about 40 musicians from various cities of India, 90 singers from Vienna and about 40 singers from India perform for this musical tour.

March: We have started new projects under the guidance of the Austrian Music Concepts – the ‘India National Chamber Orchestra’ and the ‘India National Youth Choir’.

June: We are honored to announce our partnership with the ‘Commonwealth Youth Orchestra”.  The Commonwealth Youth Orchestra & Choir has been established to mark and celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II, sixty years as the Head of the Commonwealth, to bring together young musicians of the 54 countries of the Commonwealth, uniting them in the pursuit of musical excellence while transcending all cultural, political, social and economic boundaries.

        INYO in 2014

June: On behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and under the patronage of Maestro Zubin Mehta, Jemima Khan has been invited to perform on the Violin with the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra & Choir. Jemima will perform at the Royal Concert Hall at Glasgow, St. James’s Palace at London and the Marlborough House, London.  These performances are as part of the build-up to the Commonwealth Games, Glasgow 2014.

July – August: India National Youth Orchestra has collaborated with The Scokendia Ensemble – The Scokendia Ensemble will bring young instrumentalists and composers from Scotland, Kenya and India together for Culture 2014, to connect, collaborate and perform, in Glasgow, during the Commonwealth Games. Four of our young INYO musicians – Jasiel Peter (violinist), Divya Raghunathan (violist), Clive Moraes (violinist) and Angelus Bharathi Jude (violinist) will be representing India.

    INYO in 2015

March: INYO musicians once again invited to represent INYO to play with the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra in London.

April: All India Auditions across the country at Chennai, Secunderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata and Dimapur.  In preparation for our next Educational Workshop which will conclude with a Mega Concert in September. The faculty for the workshop will be from Vienna and the conductor will be Maestro Vijay Upadhyaya.

September: All India Educational Workshop conducted from 4th till 11th September at Chennai with 135 musicians and 180 singers.  The workshop culminated in a mega concert at a packed Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall on 12th September.                 The INYO Faculty also performed for concert at the La Martiniere, College, Lucknow on 3rd September.  Concert attended by the Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri. Akhilesh Yadav along with an audience of over 3,000.  Also on the 14th September at the Sri Ramana Maharishi Ashram Auditorium, Tiruvannamalai.

INYO in 2016

 April: All India Educational Workshop will be conducted from 18th till 23rd April at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, (NCPA) Mumbai.  Seventeen teachers and professors from the University of Vienna will be the faculty for the workshop. The workshop will end in a concert on 24th April at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, NCPA, Mumbai.
